Sky News TV interview

I joined Sky News' Martin Stanford on 7 Mar 2016 to talk about SXSW, my latest musical innovations and my Power of Music & Dementia project...

Ahead of setting off to showcase my latest music tech innovations and tour of the US I joined Sky News to give a sneak preview of the world’s first NFC-enabled musical jacket. The jacket was designed by the former tailor of David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix (aka Mr Fish), the jacket has been created out of a woven silk fabric - by textiles artist BeatWoven (http://beatwoven.co.uk) - which reflects the geometric patterning of Ms Wolfe’s latest single ‘Take Me Home’, recorded in the former home of Hendrix, McCartney, Ringo, Lennon and Yoko Ono. The garment also incorporates NFC technology, allowing people to tap their phones onto the fabric to hear the song and read its story.

The musical jacket is the my latest innovation in a series of ‘world first’ projects, which have seen me use cutting-edge technology to offer new ways of interacting with my music.

My most recent album, Montagu Square is available in NFC format, allowing users to interact with the album and its songs through a deck of NFC enabled MOO cards. Each track on the album comes with its own beautifully printed card featuring artwork, lyrics and an embedded Near Field Communication (NFC) chip - allowing listeners to tap the cards from the album deck onto their phone to play the music and access its content.

The Power of Music & Dementia work would not have been possible with out the generous support and guidance of the Utley Foundation.
