Beatie Wolfe & Brian Eno – “Suddenly”

Let’s kick things off with a tender tune for your Tuesday; one that comes to us with the Henry Rollins stamp of approval. “Suddenly” is a dreamy collaboration between singer, conceptual artist, and “UN role model for innovation” Beatie Wolfe, and towering musical figure Brian Eno. This sweet track is the first taste of one of the pair’s two (!) forthcoming albums. Luminal and Lateral are both due on June 6th via Verve.

TURNSTILE – “SEEIN’ STARS / BIRDS”

There’s something about this single from the mega-talented, punk-and-more band TURNSTILE.  It’s … shiny. It hurts our eyes like a desert summer sunbeam. It’s big, bright, and bold: from the full-throttled guitar solos, to the unexpected two-tracks-in-one left turn. Groove, then mosh, then air-guitar your heart out. You’re welcome. P.S. If those vocals on “SEEIN’ STARS” sound familiar, that’s because they belong to Devonté Hynes (Blood Orange) and Hayley Williams (Paramore).

AMMAR 808 – “‘AH Yallila’ (Feat. Mahmoud Lahbib & Mariem Bettouhami)”

We love an innovative pairing. Give your brain a taste of something all new with this invigorating track from AMMAR 808, an artist who blends vocals and instrumentation from his homeland of Tunisia with a grimy electronic beat that’ll summon your rave bones. And bonus points for the POV video that offers a thrilling glimpse of a day in the life of a producer.

Satomimagae – “Tonbo”

Japanese artist Satomimagae conceptualized her new album Taba as a collection of short stories inspired by the beauty of everyday life inside her bubble. This inviting track is a warm and satisfying blend of gently strummed chords and ethereal singing — layered vocals, hums, and breathy sighs compliment the track’s thinky-pretty collage of a video.

uh – “nostos”

We’re in need of some inspiration. Luckily, this experimental track from UK brother-sister electronic outfit uh hits just right. The hopeful melody and the cathartic pace do the heavy lifting, but don’t sleep on the spoken word outro — a moving meditation inviting your interpretation. Hit play, close your eyes, smile.
