They discussed how to tackle the energy trilemma – the challenge to provide the world with energy that's more secure, more affordable and lower carbon. “We do that by doing two things. First investing in today’s energy system, which is predominantly oil and gas. And, not or, investing in accelerating the energy transition.”

This needs to happen in particular across the economic sectors that consume the most energy: industry, transport, buildings. Increased power generation from cleaner sources will be critical. We believe the world can achieve net-zero CO2 emissions to meet the goal of Paris. Our scenarios also underline great opportunity in the transformation of the energy system.
